With the acceleration of the process of internationalization, parents who make long-term considerations for their children's education are no longer limited to making choices within the education system of their country, but have expanded their vision to more global curriculum options. This is not only because of the consideration of enhancing the competitiveness of children in entering the world's top universities, but also because international courses can provide a more dimensional perspective to explore personal potential. Recently, IB courses have become more and more popular among families who tend to the international curriculum system. To date, more than 1.2 million students worldwide have graduated from the diploma program (DP).

What is IB education?

IB education is developed by the International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO) in cooperation with UNESCO. The IB course can be divided into four semesters. CP.

PYP: Primary Year Programme 3-12 years old

MYP: Middle Year Programme 11-16 years old

DP: Diploma Programme 16-19 years old

CP: Career-related Programme 16-19 years old

In the IB curriculum system, the IBDP curriculum is especially popular among parents and students. From the point of view of the origin, the IB course is mainly to solve the problem of attending school for the children (international students) of diplomats, employees of multinational companies, etc., and unify the concepts and standards all over the world. Later, it gradually became an elite course for outstanding middle school students all over the world to prove their learning ability and challenging spirit.

The grading scale for each group of courses is 1-7 points, 4 points are passed. Generally speaking, students need to choose 1 course from each group of courses. Each course can choose High Level (HL) or Standard Level (SL), plus TOK, CAS and EE (These three results are indispensable) The score is 3 points, the full score is 45 points.

In order to obtain a diploma, students must study at least 3 advanced courses and complete all 3 core courses.

Why choose IBDP?

IB education emphasizes inquiry-based learning and encourages whole-person development. The educational mission of the International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO) clearly states that it is necessary to cultivate students to understand that although there are differences between people, the opinions of others may be correct.

A simple and powerful sentence shows that IB education takes the cultivation of global citizenship as the first, respects individual students and their local culture, and provides international and quality education instead of just coping with exams.

The IB course is a universal course that contains the elements and skills required by higher education, which is a very good foundation for future university admissions. For example, universities need to do scientific research, critical thinking, presentations and even social skills. IB courses have corresponding training requirements.

Therefore, as one of the university entrance examination courses generally recognized by higher education institutions around the world, the IBDP examination results are regarded as excellent admission qualifications. This recognition includes two aspects. One is the consideration at the time of admission, that is, students can directly apply to prestigious schools in various countries through IB scores. The second is the conversion of credits after admission, that is, many universities (such as Yale University) recognize that some of the IB course scores of outstanding students are converted into university credits, that is, students can be exempted from taking this course.

IB learners are:

-encouraged to think critically and solve complex problems.

-drive their own learning.

-a core part in educational programmes that can lead them to some of the highest-ranking universities around the world.

-more culturally aware, through the development of a second language.

-able to engage with people in an increasingly globalized, rapidly changing world.
