2021-10-21

This year, LFIS High School welcomes the third IB week, and we will continue to bring you a week of colorful themed activities. In today's turbulent global situation, as a citizen of the world, what can we do for world peace? This week's IB week, we will talk about how to build a peaceful and just world (small actions, big difference). Let's take a look at the wonderful moments of these two days!

Day 1

Opening ceremony

At the opening ceremony, the high school director Donna led all students to recall the themes and highlights of the previous two IB weeks through quick questions and answers, and introduced the theme of our third IB week.

Cultural and creative products designed by the teachers of this IB week

Treasure hunt game

The expectant treasure hunt has begun! Students are divided into 8 groups, and each group will get a bingo card. Each grid on the card represents a task of a subject. If students need to use subject knowledge to complete the task given by the teacher, they can get the teacher’s signature. Students can complete the grid by horizontal, vertical or diagonal. The first team to sign the grid on the three straight lines will win the game.

Treasure hunting games are hidden in various points of the teaching building, and each point has different subject tasks waiting for students to unlock the treasure.

Law education

In the afternoon, we are very honored to have attorney Sun from Junqiao Foreign Law Firm come to our school to give a lecture on topics. Attorney Sun is very concerned about the legal protection of young people. She and her team have established the legal aid of "Chanyang Protecting Youth" and conducted nearly a hundred legal public welfare lectures on the legal protection of primary and secondary school students.

This time, Lawyer Sun gave students a lecture on "Cherish Youth and Walk with the Law". She and her students taught basic legal knowledge, and through lifelike language, they described some common crimes and cases of teenagers, and explained The characteristics of juvenile delinquency and how to stay away from crime and other issues.

Peace windmill

Gradually, the concept of the theme of this IB week has begun to take shape in the minds of students. Everyone has a different understanding of peace in their minds. Everyone has made peace windmills according to their own ideas and made a presentation on campus. .

Our work is a windmill like a dove. The wings represent the windmill as a dove, the golden yellow symbolizes the economic bridge built, and the green part represents the olive branch held in the air by the dove.

Equality is the embodiment of peace, whenever we talk about peace, we can think of equality, the equality of political rights of people in a country, reflects the peace in it.

Follow my footsteps and build the world we want!

The shape of the pinwheels that we put means a family.Let’s say the spot we put the pinwheel is one point and if you draw a line,it looks like two people holding their hands. This means that they live in a harmony, and the home is full of love.We think this is the world we want.

Peace is impossible if it’s without the effort, like pinwheel doesn’t work without the wind.

The pinwheels are around a tree. This tree represents ‘environment’. Although many good and bad aspects are surrounded by the environment, we can make it better, to a real peace.

Day 2

Veteran speech

There is such a group of people, they walked through ups and downs together with longing, sincerity, persistence, shoulder to shoulder, arm in arm in the years of burning passion. They fulfilled their sacred promises when they enlisted in the army, fulfilled their glorious duties as soldiers, and made outstanding contributions to the cause of national defense. We are very honored to invite two comrades to share their combat experience with us.

Comrade Zhang Miaosheng shared with teachers and students that he had been brave and tenacious in the counterattack against Vietnam in the Laoshan area. In the "March 8" battle, he fought bloody battles with his comrades for five days and five nights, repelled the enemy 15 counterattacks, and achieved 23 kills and 13 wounds, and won the precious honor of first-class merit.

Comrade Xu Lei told us about his life in the Tibetan army. He shared: A strong country must have a strong army, and a strong army can ensure people's security. A weak military country must not have autonomy. Even if the people are diligent and politically enlightened, the wealth created by their citizens will be completely exploited by the great powers.

Dialogue and peace

After nearly two days of activities, the students carefully produced posters and speech materials, brought small classes about peace to the children in the elementary and junior high schools, and passed on the spirit of peace to the students.

The fresh and interesting interaction and approachable discussions deeply attracted the younger students.

Student perception

After two days of activities, the students have a deep understanding, let us take a look!

The IB Week series of activities are still in progress, so stay tuned!
